Why Another Visitor Guide to Vancouver?

This is the question I had to ask myself when I decided to start Vancouver Inside Out. After all, there are numerous websites out there with restaurant, hotel and activity reviews. Why then, another site? Because none of those existing would have worked for me visiting Vancouver, and none of them work for you.

What you don’t Need in a Guide to Vancouver

You don’t need to be recommended restaurants like Lupo or Raincity Grill (mains run about $30), as you have better places to spend your money. You especially don’t need recommendations that are written by the restaurants themselves.

You don’t need to read about attractions on government run websites that say every event is great. Nor do you need to read about $150 a night hotels, when all you’re looking for is a place to sleep for a couple of days or week until you move on or find somewhere more permanent.

You don’t need any of that, and now you don’t have live with it.

Why We’re Different

Vancouver Inside Out is different. It is specifically created for backpackers, independent travellers, students and anyone else new to Vancouver who is just trying to establish themselves, without breaking the bank.

This guide has (or will have) information from the most obvious like where to eat, what to do on the weekend and where to find the best beer, to the most trivial (but most important to some) like where to find a good deal on cheese and where to buy good balsamic vinegar.

Reviews on events, attractions and business will always be honest and based on personal experience, and never with the sole intention of making money from advertising.

Your Contribution Makes the Difference

Finally, Vancouver Inside Out isn’t a one-way conversation, like the rest of the visitor websites and travel guides. There is no way one person (or one group of people) can possibly review every restaurant, hiking trail and winter activity.

Everyone who is a part of Vancouver Inside Out is encouraged to add their own recommendations, reviews, comments and thoughts to ensure we build the biggest and best resource for everyone coming to Vancouver.

So, welcome to Vancouver Inside Out. Please have a look around, add your thoughts where you can and join our community. If you have any questions or anything to add, please put them in the appropriate comments section.

The site is still under construction, so please check back soon for more information!
